Our communities are making positive steps towards improving
their health:

- MORE of us protect our skin from the sun than the NSW average.
- WE have a lower death rate from cancer than the rest of the state.

Living in rural NSW provides special challenges for our
health care, we meet these challenges in many ways:
- INNOVATIVE programs for mental health, drug and alcohol and dental
care.
- ABORIGINAL leaders meeting regularly to find solutions for the special
health needs of their communities.
- SUPPORT for interest groups on issues from farm safety to Chronic
Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
- ENCOURAGING partnerships, working with other organisations on important
issues such as protecting the environment.
We have a total of 474 acute beds and 111 approved long stay beds.
While we are proud of our inpatient services, our focus is holistic,
after all health is much more than hospital beds.
- Community Health Centres support each of our hospital services and
our smaller communities.
- Dental Health, Drug and Alcohol and Mental Health teams provide services
throughout the area.
- Our Population Health Unit encourages a health outcomes approach.
